About Me

I have a long history as an advocate for people with disabilities. Initially, my work in this arena was with the children of migrant farm workers in California, assisting them with medical and educational needs, particularly those with learning disabilities. I was able to use my bilingual skills to assist in the assessment of these children.

However, I gained my knowledge of the Social Security programs as a Social Security Administration claims representative, working both Supplemental Security (SSI) and Social Security (SSDI) claims. I was also involved in the continuing disability review process and assisting people in the development of plans to achieve self support. This position also gave me the opportunity to develop skills relating to the coordination of Social Security disability with other benefits such as Worker’s Compensation.

Following my position with the Social Security Administration, I was a successful bilingual vocational consultant. I assisted injured workers, who were receiving Worker’s Compensation, with return to work, retraining or the pursuit of Social Security disability.

The knowledge I have gained regarding the Social Security System from these prior professional positions, combined with my graduate degree, have been extremely valuable. I have chosen to limit my practice to the representation of applicants for Social Security Disability benefits for the past 12 years.
